Peter Jackson was born in New Zealand in 1961. He is a film director, producer, actor and screenwriter. He is best known for his work on the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (2001-2003) which earned him multiple Academy Awards. He is also known for his work in King Kong (2005) and District 9 (2009).
Throughout his career, now spanning more than 30 years, Peter Jackson have become known for his trademarks which include his attention to detail, and the habit of shooting scenes from many different angles. His earlier films displayed a grisly sense of humour and a general playfulness. His quest for perfect has made him renowned within the New Zealand film industry often shooting a scene from as many different angles as possible hence giving him more options during editing. This habit has also led him to spend days shooting a single scene. With scenes featuring simple dialogue, he would often use a range of camera angles and shot sizes as well as close-ups of faces to capture expressions.
For most of his career, Jackson has remained in his home country of New Zealand to make films. He was appointed a Companion in the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2002 and has won three Academy Awards including the award for Best Director for The Return of the King.
