Film:Wall.E

　　This film told a story about a little robot Wall.E, and his friends.

　　When the Earth become a huge dump, human all ran away from their hometown and traveled in the space, a little robot Wall.E was left in this lonely place, working day after day to clean all the rubbishes on the Earth.

　　Maybe because he lived for a long time, he got mind to think, to live as his own style. He had a little insect friend. He like the movie “Hello, Dolly”. He had his interesting collections. He could dance with the music. He even began to desire for love, wish someone can hold his hand.

　　One day, a large rocket landed on the Earth, a beautiful robot came out from the rocket, she aroused Wall.E’s lonely heart. Wall.E tried to approach her, and finally know her name is Eve.

　　Soon, Wall.E and Eve became good friends, Eve also like his little insect. Wall.E told Eve, he was working here to deal with the rubbishes. Eve seemed to have important thing to do, but she wouldn’t like to tell Wall.E anything about it. However, Wall.E still treated her very good, tried his best to please his beautiful new friend. He shown Eve his collections, demonstrated how to play those things. But Eve was too powerful, when she got excited, she nearly destroyed everything. Wall.E stopped her at once, and taught her how to dance. But this time, Eve broke Wall.E’s body. Eve was scared, Wall.E told her not to be worried, and fixed himself quickly.

　　Then, Wall.E thought of other way to please Eve. He reminded that one day, he picked up an interesting and special thing from the rubbishes. He doesn’t know what it is, but he decided to show Eve that thing. He took out the plant. Suddenly, Eve lost her conscious. She locked the plant inside herself, and began to “sleep”.

　　Wall.E was very worried. He tried to wake her up, take care of her. But Eve doesn’t give him any response. When Wall.E was doing his work as usual, that rocket which brought Eve to the Earth came again. It picked Eve into itself and went away. Wall.E wanted to follow Eve, so he climbed into the rocket, and finally arrived Axiom spaceship.

　　In here, Wall.E met human and other robots. Eve was brought to the captain’s room, captain was told that Eve was sent to find plant on the Earth, she came back, means she has finished her task. He was so surprised, because human had been traveled in space for hundreds of years, this generation of human had no idea about plant at all. Captain ask the computer what is plant, and notice their home was so beautiful. He want to go back to the Earth.

　　But the plant was disappeared, and the powerful robot Auto didn’t let them go, because the programs told it the Axiom spaceship shouldn’t go back. As captain had different opinions with it, it even had no hesitate to prison the captain.

　　 Wall.E and Eve was shown in the warning over the spaceship, they start to run away. Eve tried to launch a small spaceship to carry Wall.E back to the Earth. But after some troubles, Wall.E came back to the Axiom spaceship with the plant. He decided to help Eve bring the plant back to the captain.

　　On the other hand, captain was also fighting with Auto. He used an image to make Auto believe the plant was on his hand, to attract Auto. Finally, he defeat Auto, Wall.E and Eve brought the plant to the pool, the spaceship began to return the Earth. But Wall.E had been cracked when he used his own body to stop the system close. Eve was very sad, all the passengers on the Axiom also feel very sorry for him.

　　As soon as they reach the Earth, Eve ran to the place where Wall.E used to live in, find the elements of Wall.E and fix him quickly. Wall.E was alive again, but he lost his memories, he became the little robot who only know how to deal with the rubbishes according to the programs again. He didn’t know Eve, when he moved out, he crossed on the little insect’s body. Eve call his name, but he had no response. Eve hold his hand in hers, then after a few seconds, Wall.E’s eyes began to move actively. At last, he called out Eve’s name and remind everything.

　　Human came back to the Earth, but it is still a dead place. Captain lead people to grow plants, the situation is getting better and better.

　　In this film, at the first half an hour, there is no script in it. No one says anything, but it is telling the story. Everything is shown by the action and environment.

　　They first use some scenes to show a huge dump at different angle, then our hero Wall.E shows his little body in a working situation. Some close up or extremely close up shots to show what is he doing with the rubbishes, to make audiences understand what he can do. Then long shot again, let audiences see how long he has been doing this. These gives us some basic information about Wall.E.

　　Then the camera moves with Wall.E, now we can see some advertisements, they explained the background of the story naturally.

　　Wall.E has a habit to collect interesting things, it is a very important part to show his personality. When he deal with the rubbishes, he picked up a bra, and cover it on his eyes. It is quite funny and shows Wall.E thinks different from human, he doesn’t understand the human life, he use his own way to study the world.

　　Some items are prepared for the later story, such as the fire extinguisher, it make him fly. And when Wall.E step on the little insect, he jump back at once, and become very worried about it. At the end, when he lost his memory, he step on the little insect and just pass by. In the morning, Wall.E go under the sun and open his boards to absorb sunshine. It explained why he can work on the Earth without anyone’s help. Also, we can see later, when Eve lost conscious, Wall.E put her under the sun, we can understand he is thinking about Eve is run out of energy.

　　All of these are interesting and creative, so even at the first half an hour, no one talks, we are still attracted by it, and it is not wasting time, it is telling story, and describing the character.

　　The film also mention us the problems of environment. Too much rubbish, always goods and goods, they poisoned our land, make our planet die. If one day the plants really disappear from the Earth, we can only see them on the screen, thinking how happy is the people before, miss the nature, how sad is that!

　　What’s more, we can understand many things from the characters. In that future world, Wall.E is a very common and out robot. Compare to Eve, he is poor and small. He hasn’t got great power, what he is doing is so normal. He is dirty and weak. But we can see how he has a good heart, he is pure and kind, he can sacrifice himself for others. He is working hard, and has his own interests. He is easy to be scared, when he was nearly shoot by Eve, he hides behind the stone and trembles. But he is still so lovely. He is harmless, even doesn’t have great power, still do his best to help others. When he follow Eve to the Axiom spaceship, that is a new place for him. But when he see human need help, even he doesn’t know how to do, still try to help.

　　Eve is like a girl grown up in a good environment, a little bit cool, but when you approach her, you will notice she is kind and friendly. At first, she doesn’t know that to Wall.E, she is so powerful, if she doesn’t be careful, might easily hurt Wall.E. Then, she get to understand Wall.E is so weak, and try to protect him. Although Wall.E made so many trouble in the Axiom spaceship, she always try to take care of him, just like an elder sister. And when Wall.E did her some help, she also notice that Wall.E is so weak, but because he wish to help, so he active his potential. When she call Wall.E, it is no more like saying “you naughty child”, but more like speaking to a partner – or, a lover.

　　Captain is the presentation of human beings. He was lazy, everyday life relax but boring, the most important thing in a day is to give a speech. But finally, he notice he couldn’t keep living under a machine, he should have his own decision and fight for it.

　　This film is a great demonstration of how to make a character living, show their mind by actions.
